Abstract

Gestational diabetes is a major risk factor for future type 2 diabetes. This prospective study followed 300 women with prior GDM for one year postpartum. Women who engaged in structured dietary counseling and regular physical activity demonstrated a 40% reduction in impaired glucose tolerance compared to controls. These findings highlight the importance of early postpartum interventions in mitigating long‑term diabetes risk.
