Abstract

Lower-extremity amputation (LEA) is associated with high mortality and reintervention rates. Imaging-derived low muscle mass is a prognostic biomarker for survival and amputation-free outcomes. Standardized measurement protocols and perioperative pathways should integrate sarcopenia into risk models for individualized rehabilitation.
