GLP-1 Receptor Agonists and Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease Remission in Type 2 Diabetes

Abstract

Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists induce weight loss and improve hepatic fat content in patients with type 2 diabetes complicated by nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. In a prospective registry, steatosis indices declined alongside HbA1c and body weight, with greatest benefits among participants achieving ≥10 percent weight reduction. Safety was consistent with prior experience. These findings support GLP-1RA as a cornerstone therapy in metabolic liver disease.
