Abstract

Analysis of FTO gene polymorphisms in the Bushehr Elderly Health cohort reveals significant associations with type 2 diabetes risk. While much of the effect is mediated through BMI, some direct genetic influence persists. The study highlights the importance of SNP-centered analyses with attention to gene-environment interactions. These findings may inform genetic risk prediction models and public health strategies for diabetes prevention.
